Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of English Essential and an Enhanced Reliability Status with Top Secret security clearance. A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances. Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Your résumé. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications):

  1. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
  2. Recent* experience in software design and debugging for electronic hardware design using programming and scripting languages.
  3. Recent* experience in embedded Linux system programming, kernel development and configuration.
  4. Recent* experience in the production of technical documentation.
  5. Recent* working experience in radio frequency (RF) and wireless technologies.

Recent refers to within the last two years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications):

  • A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Computer Engineering or Software Engineering.
  • Recent* experience working in a research and development environment.
  • Recent* experience in software development using Python, C, Java, Bash, C#.
  • Recent* experience in web development using JavaScript, Flask, HTML, CSS, etc.
  • Experience in working with database such as MySQL, SQLite3, etc.
  • Experience in socket programming.
  • Experience in hardware design, debugging and testing.
  • Experience using test instruments such as oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.
  • Recent* experience in testing and evaluation of COTS.
  • Recent* experience programming microcontroller/microprocessor interfaces and peripherals.
  • Recent* experience creating or modifying device drivers.
