About MNS:

Duties:

  • Plan, develop and implement inquirybased early years programs for parent/caregivers and their children ages birth to six (6) years.
  • Ensure that the programs are relevant and meaningful according to the current pedagogy for EarlyON framework and family resource principles.
  • Design and facilitate and or cofacilitate parenting programs by following adult education and engagement principals.
  • Design facilitation sessions to provide a variety of unique experiences which accommodate for group as well as individual needs of the participants.
  • Communicate purpose and goals of activities with parents/caregivers related to child development and play and inquirybased learning. Show compassion to parents/caregivers in their role.
  • Provide strategies to the parents / caregivers for use at home and provide referrals to clients in finding support relating employment, education/training resources, food security, housing, and childcare.
  • Assist parents/caregiver through facilitation sessions about modeling, active listening, observing, appreciative inquiry, demonstrating and guiding.
  • Facilitate positive key messaging on parenting, adultchild relations, physical literacy, healthy lifestyle, mental health. Initiate conversations with parents / caregivers who are experiencing barriers to provide support.
  • Monitor and supervise all participants when assessing the services (online / inperson).
  • Monitor the demographics of program participants and their requested needs. Ensures proper follow up and community connections are made
  • Research current best practices and share appropriate resources for parents/caregivers beyond and including the early years.
  • Attend team meetings and debriefing sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education in a related field. Preference will be given to those with Early Childhood Educator Diploma.
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) is a must.
  • Minimum three (3) year experience with working with families and children within an EarlyON program setting or a childcare setting.
  • Demonstrated group facilitation skills within a school environment.
  • Certification in Mother Goose, Nobody's Perfect, Group Facilitation an asset
  • Good customer service skills and comfortable dealing with the public
  • Working knowledge of How Does Learning Happen (HDLH). Knowledge of relevant legislation including Child Care and Early Years Act, Family and Services Act, and Duty to Report
  • Comfort and ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (mask and eye protection) for in person programming.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends in both an indoor and outdoor setting.
  • Must have a valid CPR/First Aid training Certification.
  • Must provide record of immunization mandated for the Early Childhood Educators (ECEs)
  • Upon successful hire, must provide a valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) obtained within the last 6 months.
