Summary

The Electrical Engineering Lead plays a pivotal role in supporting the Electrical Engineering Department Manager by overseeing day-to-day technical operations, leading project teams, and ensuring the successful execution of projects within the department.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead overseeing a team of electrical engineers, including mentorship and training.
  2. Ensure proper staffing levels and resource allocation.
  3. Ensure the quality and accuracy of electrical engineering deliverables.
  4. Generate engineering hour estimates, resource loading, and forecasting.
  5. Ensure effective use of global workshare to meet corporate requirements.
  6. Leading, execution, and review of project deliverables.
  7. Monitor project schedule and budget for all electrical deliverables.
  8. Interface with the other engineering disciplines to ensure a coordinated design.
  9. Ensure electrical designs meet the requirements of both the client and Equinox.
  10. Assist in the development of electrical department standards, procedures, and specifications.
  11. Develop and stamp key electrical design documents.
  12. Prepare switchgear/MCC design and specifications, power distribution design, utility power design and specification, remote/standalone genset sizing and installation, fire and gas detection system design, shutdown key development, commissioning, and start-up assistance.
  13. Prepare and/or review electrical single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  14. Provide electrical input into the detailed scope of work, DBM, and Project Execution Plan.
  15. Analyze the designs of vendors or subcontractors providing specific equipment.
  16. Develop electrical MTOs and labor estimates.
  17. Develop and evaluate electrical equipment and construction specifications.
  18. Perform engineering for procurement activities, including MRQ/MRP development, technical evaluation / recommendation, and vendor drawing approvals.
  19. Perform engineering development of Construction Work Package, including construction specifications, IFC drawings, and material lists.

Must possess:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a Lead position.
  • Leadership, mentorship, and supervisory skills.
  • Keen awareness of budget, management of change, schedule constraints, and safety.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Effectively resolve interdisciplinary issues or concerns that arise within a team environment.
  • Broad exposure to natural gas, conventional oil, and heavy oil facility design and construction.
  • Proficient in high, medium, and low voltage power distribution design.
  • Proficient in protective relaying, motor control systems, area classification specifications, electrical equipment sizing, and PLCs.
  • Familiar with electrical safety and code compliance requirements.
  • Experience with various electrical codes and standards.
Education & Qualifications

Successful candidate will be Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) within the province of Alberta. Electrical Engineering or related Engineering degree. Minimum 15+ years' oil and gas experience (with EPCM background).
