BECOME A MATH MENTOR

OUR VOLUNTEERS, or Bigs as we call them, are adults of all ages, genders and come from a diversity of backgrounds. Bigs are there to play, listen, hang out and, most importantly, be a friend. You don't need any previous experience with kids to get involved


Our
Mentoring With Math Program is designed to strengthen the impact of tutoring by adding in the element of mentorship.

You'll meet once-a-week for 90 minutes, over a 10 week session, and work on numeracy, complete activities, and play games.

No previous experience with math is necessary for volunteers and all training is provided by Big Brothers.

Our Math Mentors are

  • Adults aged 18+, inclusive of male, female, trans, and gender diverse individuals.
  • Volunteers who are not professional tutors but individuals who have a desire to support children.

Our Math Mentees are

  • Children in grades 3 to 7 who demonstrate a need for assistance in math at their grade level.
  • From families who are not otherwise able to financially pursue academic support outside of school
