POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary role of the Dryer Operator is to operate the dryer safely and efficiently in order to process, dry, and package dairy products required for the manufacture of safe and high-quality food products.

The Dryer Operator is a member of the MDI team and as such, participates in team efforts to achieve department goals, and provides support to other roles within the dairy operations as required.

This position requires shift work, weekend, and holiday rotations in a 24/7 operation.

DUTIES

  • Prepare the dryer for a product, perform routine maintenance to ensure ongoing dryer operation, and shut down the dryer at end of the production run.
  • Operate and troubleshoot the dryer in order to complete daily targets.
  • Complete the required documentation. I.E. record production information on batch sheets
  • Package and palletize the finished product.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Contribute to the writing and review of standard operating procedures and standard work documentation for processes and tasks in the work area.
  • Run cleaning and sanitation procedures (CIPs & COPs) on all equipment after the production run.
  • Comply with and uphold quality systems requirements.
  • Adhere to all safety practices and protocols related to job responsibilities and tasks including wearing all PPE when handling chemicals.
  • Act in accordance with company policies related to personal and group health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement programs such as coaching sessions, sharing of knowledge and skills, and contributing to team efforts to achieve assigned balanced scoreboard goals.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES

  • Education
  • University Degree preferably in a related discipline
  • Experience 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment related to food or a similar industry. Dryer operation and/or dairy plant experience is an asset.
  • Computer skills working proficiency in the computerized environment; use of ERP, HMI systems plus Word, Outlook, and Excel is an asset.
  • Able to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs.)
