What is the opportunity?


Do you have a passion for
automation and transformation engineering? That is, envisioning and building scalable, reliable, performing, and secure services that underpin all Finance IT(FIT) products.

Then we want you on our team This role reports to our Shared Capabilities organization, and you'll have the opportunity to learn and grow, expanding your knowledge base and getting hands-on experience on release management, SRE, DevOps, and software development for reliability and data visualization.


This role will require you to be located in the Halifax / Nova Scotia or Toronto / Ontario region and be able to commute to the office as you will be required to work at least two days per week in the office, as indicated by your manager.


What will you do?

  • Lead design and development of software components, systems, and features to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of FIT services.
  • Lead sustainable incident response, blameless postmortems, and production improvements that result in direct business opportunities for FIT.
  • Provide guidance to other team members on managing endtoend availability and performance of missioncritical services, building automation to prevent problem recurrence, and building automated responses for nonexceptional service conditions.
  • Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards, and cultivate innovation and collaboration across multiple teams.
  • Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables using the Agile approach

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficiency with the following core technologies: Java, C#, Angular, SQL, Spring framework, Shell scripting, Apache Kafka
  • Intermediate knowledge of various SQL/NoSQL data storage mechanisms and Big Data technologies.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Ansible, and Elastic
  • Intermediate knowledge of industry practices, with focus on DevOps, Test Automation, SRE
  • Intermediate experience in a variety of environments (Cloud, distributed and mainframe, business workflows and services/APIs, databases)
  • Ability to influence and Lead Transformation Engineering teams
  • Ability to pick up new tools and concepts quickly and learn other coding languages as needed.
  • Handson technical leadership experience, producing technical documentation, and contributing to technical direction.

Nice-to-have

  • Red Hat certified automation engineer
  • Experience with Docker, OpenShift
  • Interest and ability to work on data visualization
