Currently looking for a Casual Worker to fill the position of Youth Worker.

Temporary, full-time hours from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with potential to become permanent.
Must have own vehicle available for use.

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor the Youth Worker implements, and reports on youth program activity, including case management and workshop delivery.

Incumbent must have the ability to work in a dynamic programming/service delivery environment. Programming and service delivery will utilize or access a majority of Agencies resources. This position may require evening and weekend work scheduling as per agency need.

MAJOR TASKS WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Counselling / Client Services

  • Provide initial assessments / intakes.
  • Engage clients to collaborate on the creation of an action work plan.
  • Maintain regular and ongoing positive contact with clients in a way that is measurable (minimum weekly contact).
  • Provide employment assessment service according to agency standards.
  • Establish and maintain client file documentation as needed.
  • Monitor active clients and their progress on a regular basis.
  • Contact and support client from first day of placement right through 3month probationary period
  • Complete followup on clients.
  • Complete all paperwork and monitoring of clients on agency programs as per requirements.
  • Provide ongoing employment counselling/case management and support to clients, throughout the program.
  • Participate in case conferencing process, as appropriate.
  • Refer and prescreen clients on behalf of employers, ensuring a good placement/job match.
  • Develop a plan with clients for marketing their skills/abilities to prospective employers.
  • Must be an active member of the team, collaborating with other team members and units, operating using evidencebased practices, in the best interest of the agency and our clients.

Workshops

  • Facilitating workshops according to the schedule and set curriculum.
  • Develop good working relationship with other agencies for the best interest of client
  • Tracking client progress and completing statistical information summaries.
  • Attend and report at staff and unit meetings.
  • Direct all incoming communications to appropriate personnel.

Marketing

  • Advocate on behalf of clients.
  • Liaise with other agencies to promote networking.
  • Develop a thorough participant profile and referral to Employer Relations Coordinators and assist with placement.
  • Represent YES at committees/organizational meetings.
  • Provide information regarding other programs and services, when appropriate.
  • Ensure clients are informed relative to YES Employment Services feedback and complaint process.

Documentation

  • Responsible for recording uptodate and accurate statistics, as required.
  • Responsible for the submission of monthly program indicator statistics.
  • Document/chart client files according to program and agency standards.

Programming

  • Thorough knowledge of program guidelines.
  • Participate in strategic planning process.
  • Participate in unit meetings.
  • Participate in YES staff meetings.
Other duties as required by the Leadership Team.

Qualifications:
Social Work degree or diploma required. Experience with helping services, familiar with counselling effectively with appropriate sensitivity to the client group. Ability to market programs and services. Excellent organizational skills to lead groups as required. Driver's licence and use of vehicle required. Must be able to obtain business insurance.
