As a member of the Toronto Western Family Health Team, the Clerical Assistant III are required to perform a range of duties requiring knowledge to perform a series of complex statistical and financial processing activities of a clerical nature.

The Clerical Assistant III (Physician Finance) manages a range of billing processes associated with the Garrison Creek FHO, including billings to Ministry of Health, third party billings and direct patient billings.

Key responsibilities include entering coding into the PSS billing system, preparing submissions to the MOH. reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling MOH error reports and receiving and reconciling MOH EDT.

The Clerical Assistant also performs billing and analysis of third-party billing for a range of individual accounts as well as performing direct patient billings for services provided by the Garrison Creek physicians that are not covered by OHIP.

This role works closely with the FHO lead and site lead, TW FHT Quality and Project lead, as well as all of the staff Physicians and reception team in the TW FHT.

The Clerical Assistant III also acts as an expert resource for billing staff at all TW FHT sites.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum High School and one additional program from an accredited program of study
  • Completion of a medical OHIP billing program or recognized equivalent.
  • At minimum, over 1 year up to and including 2 years practical and related experience.
  • Completion of medical terminology and booking keeping programs, preferred.
  • Experience in a billing environment with exposure to a range of basic accounting practices, procedures and principles preferred.
  • Working in a primary care healthcare environment, preferred
  • Experience using an EMR (Electronic Medical Record) i.e., PS
  • Suite
  • Basic knowledge of accounting practices, procedures and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Skill in performing detailed numerical computations.
  • Skill in preparing detailed reports.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including, excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent selfdirection, team building, problemsolving, organization and time management skills
