The City of Edmonton selected Marigold Infrastructure Partners to design and build the 14-kilometre Valley Line West LRT project from downtown to Lewis Farms.

Construction has begun and will take five to six years to complete.

Marigold is a design-build joint venture agreement between Colas and Parsons.

As we continue in our construction, we require a
Technical Discipline Lead.

Summary:

The Technical Discipline Lead (Alignment-Wide - Track, OCS, Rail, Civil Structures)

will be part of the Technical Services team and be the technical point of reference for alignment-wide scope throughout the design, construction, testing, commissioning and close-out phases of the Edmonton Valley Line West (EVLW) LRT project.

Alignment-wide scope includes, but is not limited to, track structures, trackwork, rail systems, overhead catenary system, landscaping, traffic signals, train signals, street lighting, other alignment-wide civil structures and associated foundations.


Duties:

In this role you will be required to take a hands-on approach to manage the delivery of project output to ensure that solutions and the delivery process satisfy the project requirements and provide value for money.


  • You are required to be well versed in standard construction information management protocols such as requests for information, vendor shop drawing submissions and associated design reviews, design change management, nonconformance identification and resolution processes.
  • You are required to be experienced in reading technical specifications and complex drawing sets to extract and understand design intent.
  • You are required to interface between design and construction to manage and resolve issues from inception to closure and will ensure that any deviations are addressed appropriately to maintain the project risk profile and technical compliance with project requirements.
  • You are required to understand design review and approval requirements and will participate in record drawing preparation and will assist others with construction certification and assembly of turnover records as construction is progressed.
  • You are required to communicate across various teams involved in design, construction, testing, commissioning and closeout, and to ensure that delivery is achieved within acceptable quality, cost and schedule parameters.
  • You will need to understand the activity of the various project teams, identify and manage risks, and ensure good technical governance procedures are followed.
You will report to the Technical Services Manager and Engineering Manager

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, an associate's degree in a technical discipline or constructionrelated field.
  • Professional registration with APEGA or ability to register from another jurisdiction is preferred.
  • 5+ years of related experience on public infrastructure or transportation projects is required, with experience on LRT or rail projects.
  • Knowledge of public works contracts, and previous experience with P3 projects is required.
  • Prior experience with concrete construction, rail works, overhead catenary system equipment is preferred.

  • Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications, and constructionrelated processes in the area of specialty.
  • Potential to lead an asset.
  • Ability to communicate in all manners (oral, written, technology) and to follow oral and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to prepare detailed written reports.
  • Capability of performing math calculations in order to perform engineering calculations, graphs and charts.
  • Proficient with computer programs, and propriety engineering software.
  • Able to balance competing tasks and work within a multidisciplined team.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous work conditions and take action if necessary.
  • Able to use sound judgment.
  • Requires ability to climb ladders, inspect work above and below ground, work in confined spaces and negotiate terrain on inprogress construction sites.
