Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best.
We are seeking creative, dynamic, and committed teachers to join our team at Clifford Bowey Public School .
Students attending Clifford Bowey Public School come to us through the specialized program placement referral process. All students have Developmental Disabilities, and many also have Autism. Our dedicated, experienced staff of teachers and educational assistants work in 13 homeroom teams of 1 teacher and 3 EAs for every 8 students. At Clifford Bowey, we foster a safe and caring learning environment where students build independence by developing communication, social, emotional, physical, and self-regulation skills. In addition to these curricular areas, all students are working on functional math and literacy goals, often through play based learning. Our students are aged and their individualized goals are developed in consultation with family, through their unique Individual Education Plan (IEP). Ultimately, promoting independence, building quality of life experiences, and preparing students and families for life after 21, are at the core of what we do at Clifford Bowey.
Ideal candidates will support the fulfillment of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board's (OCDSB) Strategic Plan to enhance the quality of education in the school, and the District, by creating a positive and inclusive school climate, learning and workplace environment. Candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully, with a human rights and equity perspective, to foster student success, achievement and well-being.
Eligibility List
This posting is open to all Occasional Teachers who DO NOT already have a part time contract, prior to September 1, 2024. Any OT's who were awarded a contract for September 1, 2024, are considered an OT until August 31, 2024, and must apply to List 2B contracts as an OT applicant.

If you are fully external to the OCDSB, you are encouraged to apply to this posting if you have the required qualifications. Please be advised that our order of consideration for permanent contracts is as follows: current internal permanent elementary contract teacher applicants, current elementary occasional teacher applicants, and then qualified external applicants.
The French language freeze continues to be in effect. Therefore, if you accept any teaching percentage of French contract, you may only be considered for other French contract positions.

* Our students all have Developmental Disabilities, and many also have Autism. Educators with experience living and working with people with DD and Autism bring skills and understanding that are invaluable in service to our community. This includes working directly with students, and also in relationships with family members, community members, paraprofessionals, etc. Additionally, many of our families and students have intersecting identities that further amplify barriers for them. Our students and families are often newcomers, MLLs, living in single parent families or group homes, and other living with other factors that contribute to marginalization.
Additional Information about this Position:
* School hours are 8:35 to 2:45. Swimming is part of the instructional program and includes all staff.
