The apprentice will have the opportunity to work and support experienced Manitowoc/Grove Technicians to maintain mobile crane machinery safely and effectively in North America.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare heavy equipment or essential responsibilities for repair and rentals.
  • Identify and order parts to complete repairs and prepare for upcoming jobs
  • Carry out repairs, modifications, rebuilds, servicing, maintenance on a range of heavy equipment and service equipment.
  • Carry out diagnosis of faults and remedial work under the supervision of a Heavy Equipment Technician
  • Attend classroom training as required and complete a recognized apprenticeship framework to a high standard
  • Ensure and maintain the health, safety and welfare of themselves and others in the workplace
  • Study and remain current on relative Manitowoc products and manuals
  • Ensure all documentation is completed as required
  • Follow training plan in the workplace
  • Any other task or project as required to suit business needs.

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Foundation/Level 1 Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
Collection of own basic hand tools
Mechanically inclined and Customer Service oriented

Competencies

  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components
  • Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, component exchange, repair and warranty related activities
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and technical drawings
  • You are able to effectively communicate detailed and complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • You are selfmotivated with the ability to work alone, unsupervised for extended periods of time
  • Fully proficient with computers and Microsoft Office suite

Physical and Environmental Elements:


This is a field service classification and employees work in a factory environment or in the field with exposure to noise and machinery and weather.

Accurate hand/eye coordination is required.

Finger dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull; access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment Work involves considerable standing, walking, climbing, crawling, driving, reading, seeing, hearing, speaking, concentrating, communicating, stooping, bending, or sitting for long periods of time.

May lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds and have exposure to working at heights. Potential for travel in other locations around the country. Ability to work overtime is necessary.
