***The Maintenance Associate performs a variety of skilled activities ranging from trouble shooting, PM program, maintenance, repair on all buildings and production equipment owned by Sunrise Markets Inc.

JOB DUTIES
- Responsible for working Safely and following all applicable WorkSafe BC, GPM and SAF related regulations & complying with company policies.
- Carries out preventive maintenance / repairs on buildings and production equipment under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, or Senior Maintenance Technician.
- Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of production equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify any potential issues.
- Assist Maintenance technician in emergency calls and carries out break down repairs as required.
- Works jointly with the Production Leadhands and other company staff on operating and troubleshooting problems with the production equipment.
- Performs all duties according to Food Safety Standards (GMP, SQF, etc.)
- Inputs into the computer CMMS the work performed, materials and equipment used.
- Reports observations of any deviation to the process/procedure or a defect or nonconformance to the product which may result in a situation requiring food safety assessment and placing product on hold or scrapping the product to the management
- Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, equipment.
- Ensure that all power tools are properly maintained and stored in a good / safe working condition.
- Communicate with maintenance team members and production personnel to coordinate work and minimize downtime.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed.
- Reports major incidents (that causes a serious machine downtime or extra help is required) to Maintenance Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor/ Maintenance manager.
TEAMWORK
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards for people safety, food safety, quality, cost control, waste reduction and complete and ontime delivery
- Promotes and follows all company and regulatory standards, including but not limited to; Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Food Safety, Safe Operating Procedures (SOP's), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
- Ensure proper use of required personal protective equipment at all times
- Report all safety concerns to a member of your Joint Health and Safety Committee and your Supervisor/Manager
- Support production team to run the equipment's to keep production running and minimize downtime if needed.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 or College Diploma or Post-Secondary Vocational / Technical School trainings.
- Good verbal and written English language skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Selfstarter
- Ability to lift up to (20) kilograms (if applicable)
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Permanent Fulltime position (40 hours per week)
- Work is performed (50% in office environment and 50% in production facility)
- Regular shift work / Regular office hours Monday
- Friday from 8:30am5:00pm
- Exposure to noise and a wet temperature varied environment when in the production area
- Flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required to meet business needs
- Wearing of company provided Uniform and other Personal Protective Equipment is required as applicable.
- Frequent ladder climbing and kneeling down to repair machinery.
- Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical lifting of machinery and parts is essential.
- Able to work indoor and outdoors in all weather conditions.
