The opportunity:

The University of Manitoba is looking for a System Administration & Functional Analyst.

This position will be responsible for the daily operational tasks specific to system maintenance and will also lead the research & development of system enhancements that include software upgrades & enhancements, electronic report distribution, encumbrance management, approval work flow functionality, system integration and client support that continuously improve the internal financial controls of the University.


The qualifications and experience we're looking for:

  • University degree or college diploma is a related discipline is required.
  • Training in Business System Analysis, professional accounting or other related professional development is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience implementing and administrating complex financial management systems, and performing data analysis, with a focus on process design, data integrity and collaboration is required.
  • Must have experience in identifying, developing and implementing business processes/business process improvements with a variety of business clients.
  • Accounting experience, which includes a strong knowledge of financial controls is required.
  • Indepth knowledge of several large complex technological systems, concepts and definitions used in an accounting environment is required.
  • Experience conducting information risk assessments for external agencies (law enforcement) in an expedited and confidential manner.
  • Previous experience reviewing system requirements and recommending appropriate system management measures to meet business needs is required.
  • Experience with multiple hardware and software environments is required.
  • Broad experience with tools and technologies used to design, plan and validate confidential financial data is required.
  • A strong understanding of client service, business relationship management and business analysis in a complex environment is required.
  • Experience in multitask, project management environment required.
  • Previous experience working in a major financial system and familiarity with the University of Manitoba or nonprofit environment and culture preferred.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated analytical and technical skills with proven problem solving and system analysis are required
  • Demonstrated planning, documentation and organizational skills are required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and customer service are required.
  • Excellent writing skills including technical writing and demonstrated effective verbal communications with presentation skills are required.
  • Must have attention to detail to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions, capabilities and applicability of new technologies is required.
  • Ability to work in a professional, confidential and productive way.
  • Knowledge of business process reengineering principles and processes is preferred.
  • Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
