Summary:


The position of the Saw Operator / General Labourer includes, but is not limited to operating light machinery, primarily the saw but may also include brake presses, and shears, and other equipment to produce metal components.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary function is to operate the band saw and cut steel to required drawing dimensions, this includes identifying and loading the saw with correct material using forklifts and overhead cranes. Some material is 48ft in length.
  • Operate machinery, including brake presses, shears, cutting torches, and grinders
  • Analyze blueprints and engineering drawings to assess materials needed and plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal.
  • Ability to identify material is an asset.
  • Create and construct patterns and guides as templates for metal cutting.
  • Monitor quality of cuts for production
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Responsibilities:

  • Band saw operator for miscellaneous metals.
  • Assist Machine operators with day to day tasks
  • Keeping the shop neat and tidy
  • Operating equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Maintain good working condition of shop tools & equipment
  • Operate Forklift/Loader in a safe manner

Experience:
(an asset but not required)

  • Angle grinder experience
  • Plasma/laser experience
  • Tape measure (REQUIRED)
  • Band Saw experience
  • Drill press experience
  • Experience reading measuring tools
  • Forklift experience

Salary:
$18.00-$22.00 per hour
