Hotel Arts Group is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Human Resources to join our team.

The Director of Human Resources will provide leadership that ensures efficient management of the corporation's human resources and enhances the professional life quality of our team of Artisans.

This role is instrumental in upholding the vision of Hotel Arts Group: A Welcoming Place of Valued Relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement an annual strategic Human Resources plan aligned with the corporate strategic plan.
  • Formulate and enforce policies and procedures to ensure consistency, fairness, and alignment with our vision and values.
  • Oversee the recruitment and employment process, ensuring we attract and retain top talent.
  • Manage monthly financials, adhere to the Human Resources budget, and liaise with the Accounting and Director of Finance team as needed.
  • Drive staff development through the creation and implementation of training programs that address staff needs.
  • Ensure compliance with current provincial and federal labour statutes and other regulatory concerns.
  • Provide advice to employees and management on the interpretation of employee's policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement a compensation philosophy and practices for the Hotel Arts Group, including researching current industry wage scales to support the creation of the annual compensation structure.
  • Oversee the social committee responsible for internal and external Human Resources activities.
  • Oversee health and safety programs including COR certification and annual audits.
  • Manage internal and external employee communications.
  • Effectively manage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sr. Leadership team
Job Responsibilities:
  • 3 years of previous experience as a generalist or combination of generalist and specialist.
  • 3 years' experience in leading or guiding a team.
  • Previous experience in hospitality is a strong asset.
  • Degree or certificate which is HR-focused is preferred.
  • Flexible work schedule, primarily on-site Mon-Fri with occasional weekend work.

  • Problem-solving and decision-making: Analyzes situations, comprehends the implications, recommends optimal solutions to problems, and makes tough decisions that align with the vision and values of Hotel Arts Group.
  • Knowledge of Alberta Employment Labour Standards: Possesses a comprehensive understanding of Alberta Employment Labour Standards.
  • Industry expertise: Has an in-depth knowledge of the industry, competitors, and opportunities in recruitment, retention, employee relations, benefits, and compensation.
  • Relationship building: Establishes and nurtures strong professional relationships with all Artisans, leaders, and AoL colleagues to understand and address their human resources needs, thereby facilitating the achievement of divisional, departmental, and organizational goals at Hotel Arts.
  • Proficiency in payroll and HRIS systems: Demonstrates a high level of proficiency with payroll and HRIS systems.
  • Project management and stakeholder engagement: Proven ability to manage complex projects and engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Financial acumen: Possesses financial acumen, particularly in managing a budget.
