Position Summary:


Reporting to the Associate Director, Corporate Communications and Events, the role supports the planning, development and execution of corporate communications projects and employee communications and experience.

The role supports the communications functions needed to implement events for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority.

The incumbent will engage with partners throughout the business to define organizational needs and develop innovative and clear communication strategies and campaigns for targeted audiences.

They will lead a team of program managers in creating and driving communications plans for a variety of projects and audiences.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead employee and corporate communications projects from planning through to implementation including providing handson support while leading resources, timelines and results from other team members
  • Develop communications for Executive Team members, selecting the appropriate communications channels within the organization
  • Forge a strong working alliance with internal business partners to help inspire change through employee engagement initiatives and communications
  • Lead all aspects of the strategic development, management and execution of innovative and effective employee communications messages and tactics that engage GTAA employees
  • Ensure end toend campaign project management, ensuring the approvals process and project results are met in a timely manner
  • Develop innovative communications and campaigns that stand out with a strong focus on delivering core narratives that support the organizational strategy
  • Lead employee crisis communications, working with the Media and Issues Management team to ensure that the employees of Toronto Pearson are well informed during crisis events
  • Lead people by providing coaching, guidance, and development by providing relevant feedback for personal and career growth
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for events, approval of all event communication plans and strategies
  • Clearly define expectations and success to cultivate a positive, healthy and safe work environment, in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations
  • Establish and ensure consistent communications standards and review all communications against these standards, providing editorial comments, feedback and final approval before content can be posted
  • Continually monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness and impact of communications strategies and brand messaging

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary Degree in Communications, Journalism or Marketing, and/or relevant work experience
  • 5 years of experience in Communications
  • 6+ years of experience in complex operational environments, preferred
  • Valid Ontario G Driver's License
  • 3 years of experience in People Management (direct report or crossfunctional)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment
  • Demonstrated experience preparing communications in support of events
  • Able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position

  • Effective communicator and persuasive presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
