Directions Youth Services is a division of Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV), which for more than 90 years has provided a variety of essential resources for children, families and individuals in the Greater Vancouver community.
Our teams strive to create spaces and build connections with youth who are facing challenges of street life, substance use, mental health concerns, and disconnection from their communities.
Directions inclusive programs of shelter and drop-in, safe houses and other unique programs are committed to being a community leader in harm reduction work and fostering low-barrier spaces where all youth are welcome.
The Directions Youth Worker - Dusk to Dawn position is a salaried part-time role that serves homeless, street-involved youth under the age of 24 accessing the 24-hour Directions Youth Services Centre.
This position provides guidance and information to the youth promoting safety and, where possible, assisting in their transition from the street to healthier, alternative lifestyles.
This position acts in a mentoring role with Peer Support Workers. This position reports to the Dusk to Dawn Supervisors and/or Manager of Directions Youth Services Centre.Hours of work: 28 hours per week,
- Thursday
- Sunday, 3:45pm11:45pm.

What you bring:
Education, Training, Experience
- Two years postsecondary course/diploma in social work or youth care/certificate in related field
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training an asset
- Food Safe Certification an asset
- Minimum 2 years experience working with youth, preferably in support of youth who have alcohol /drug misuse issues.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of community, social and health resources
- Knowledge of the systemic issues that affect low income and marginalized people
- Knowledge of substance misuse, adolescent development and the problems encountered by chemically dependent individuals; basic understanding of behavioral management

- Successful completion of criminal record check
