WHERE YOU COME IN

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Associate to join our team at Make-A-Wish Canada. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Supervisor, the Associate will play an integral part in ensuring that vendors are paid promptly so that the wish kids' wishes are fulfilled by helping the team with the busy summer period.

This role is located in Pickering and is a full-time, 4-month contract, hybrid position.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Monitor the accounts payable inbox and respond to enquiries on a timely basis.
  • Create a complete vendor folder on SharePoint for each payment request.
  • Communicate with internal staff to obtain approvals and clarifications on payment requests.
  • Assist in entering bills into QuickBooks for a weekly payment cycle.
  • Assist in processing payments, including cheques, ACH's, wire transfers and e-transfers.
  • Communicate directly with vendors to update contact information and billing processes.
  • Using QuickBooks, perform basic bookkeeping functions.
  • Assist in general office administration tasks to support finance team members.
  • Assist in the project to clean up paper files in the office.
  • Other duties as assigned.



WHAT YOU BRING
  • Post-secondary education in accounting\bookkeeping programs or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in accounts payable and basic accounting principles.
  • 3-5 years' experience in accounts payable or general accounting bookkeeping.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office knowledge and skills.
  • Experienced user of QuickBooks Online.
  • High level of accuracy, detailed oriented with strong time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate both written and orally in English.
  • Positive attitude and the ability to adapt to change in the workplace and be innovative.
  • A clear criminal background check will be required.
YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Hybrid work environment (2 days in-office, 3 days remote per week) with occasional requirements to work outside of regular office hours during peak season to attend fundraising events.
Physical/Mental Effort
  • Ensure accuracy with a high attention to details.
  • Required to focus on numbers and data for long periods of time.
