About Us:


The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), three large Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Applied Health Sciences and Advanced Health Care Practice and four Research Centres.

The Faculty has more than 3,200 undergraduate students and more than 800 graduate students (200 PhD students)

Responsibilities:


The eLearning & Digital Media Specialist is a core member of the FHS Curriculum Design team which supports teaching and learning activities within the faculty.

The eLearning & Digital Media Specialist will facilitate the production (capture and edit) of digital teaching content in the collaboration with faculty members within the Faculty of Health Sciences.

In collaboration with Instructional Design team, the role will create and utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools in online education to produce effective online learning opportunities, in consultation with faculty members, and will provide support to faculty and students in their learning and use of such tools in courses.

The role will also work alongside the team and instructors to support the integration of technology into courses that will enrich and make student learning more effective.


Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Formal education/training in digital media production, digital media design, adult education, educational technology, teaching and learning in higher education, or a related field preferred
  • Experience:
  • 3 years' experience providing support and coordination in an academic environment in the area of digital media production and design, eLearning Technology support or related experience
  • 3 years' experience as a digital instructional support resource preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Familiarity with instructional design methods to deliver instructional programs and courses
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods of adult education and eLearning in higher education preferred
  • Knowledge of educational technologies, eLearning principles, strategies and tools and with creating and laying out graphics and visual design
  • Familiarity with the best practices in course design, development and evaluation
  • Analytical skills to accurately interpret and integrate report data from various sources
  • Ability to produce highquality results and workable solutions that meet client needs
  • Attention to detail with an ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of data, while ensuring that information is accurate and comprehensive
  • Ability to adapt to change and learn new technical and organization concepts and processes
  • Advanced skills with media posproduction, including Photography (DSLR Cameras, Studio Lighting, Photoshop, Lightroom), Video Creation/Editing (Video DSLRs/Camcorders, Premiere, After Effects, Final Cut Pro), Audio capture/Editing (Audition, Audacity)
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (such as Sakai), with Web 2.0 tools and social media
  • Capable of quickly learning new software with the ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments
  • Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users with the ability to write clear, concise and accurate procedural documentation
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, manage multiple and diverse tasks and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
