Overview

The Department of Recreation, Athletics and Wellness at the University of Toronto Mississauga is currently hiring Head Coaches for the upcoming Fall/Winter Tri-Campus Sports season.

The U of T Tri-Campus Sports program aims to provide students a competitive sport opportunity by competing against the other U of T campuses in weekly matches. The U of T Tri-Campus Sports program allows students to develop their sport skills through weekly team practices led by coaches. The sport season starts in September and can run until March, depending on the sport. Each sport operates with one practice and one game per week during their respective sport season.

Job Description

Number of Positions: 1 Head Coach position for each sport (12 total)
Position Start Date: August 1, 2024 Position End Date: April 7, 2025
Number of Hours per Week & Compensation: Up to 8 hours per week; Fall Sports up to 45 total hours for length of contract. Fall and Winter Sports up to 120 hours for length of contract.
Total compensation for length of contract is between $775 (Fall Sports) to $2,750 (Fall/Winter Sports).

Must be flexible to work varying evenings and weekends
Classification: Non-Union Casual
Summary: Reporting to the Sport Program Coordinator and supervised by the Supervisor, Sport Programs, the incumbent is responsible for: Selecting and Coaching a roster of up to 15-18 student-athletes Planning effective practices and Implementing game strategies Be in attendance for one practice and one game per week during the season Demonstrated leadership, motivation and athlete management skills Maintaining an appropriate professional demeanor Open communication who utilizes positive reinforcement and encouragement A practitioner of safety and injury prevention who provides a safe environment Qualifications: Must be of good character, demonstrating high caliber of leadership, sportsmanship and coaching performance Must have N.C.C.P. Making Ethical Decisions certification, Safe Sport & sport specific certifications (recommended) Must have previous coaching and playing experience in the sport at a competitive level Have exceptional interpersonal communication skills, sound administrative skills, strong motivational abilities and a commitment to fair play
