Research Methods Specialist (ML Ops Lead)

Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics


The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is harnessing the power of high-performance computing to integrate and analyze the wealth of data generated about the brain at CAMH.

Our research is performed in an open science environment, with an emphasis on reproducible data-driven research and a patient-centric approach to accelerate identification and treatment of mental illness.

A focus on global collaboration is key to transforming our understanding of mental health and its treatment.

The Centre operates as an incubator for medical technologies to identify, manage and treat mental illness, while shaping policy at national and global levels.

The KCNI Operations team includes the Research Informatics/IT Department that provides informatics and data services to the CAMH research community.


Position Summary

  • Key Accountabilities_
  • Support the ongoing development of Machine Learning Operations
  • Maintain and implement ML Ops systems and infrastructure
  • Support Health Intelligence program with predictive indicator development
  • Oversee Wearable Operations services and development
  • Provide operational support to study teams using wearable devices
  • Support the data engineering and management of wearablesrelated data
  • Developing harmonized data representations of wearable / timeseries data
  • Developing data pipelines, quality metrics and reusable scripts to facilitate data analysis
  • Support/coordinate onprem to cloud environment migrations.
  • Developing standard operating procedures (SOP's) and protocols
  • Developing partnerships with external vendors and organizations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Medical Informatics, Health Records, Neuroscience, Information Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting research data collection and analysis
  • Strong experience with machine learning operations processes and deployment
  • Strong experience with Linux/Unix operating systems, administration and support
  • Strong experience with database management (postgres, timeseriesDB)
  • Strong knowledge of informatics infrastructure, data management, permissions management and privacy considerations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and network principles
  • Expertise working with versioning control systems, package management software and software development life cycles.
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and determined attitude towards ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Excellent problemsolving and criticalthinking skills; balancing strategic alignment with technology roadmap and emerging industry trends with practical delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with research faculty, students, and staff in a team environment.
  • Exposure to mental health and addictions research.
  • Demonstrated leadership and personnel management skills.
  • Good understanding of the CAMH Research's goals and objectives.
  • Highly selfmotivated and directed personal attributes
  • Experience working in a team oriented, collaborative environment
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset

This full-time, contract (1 year) position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.

Salary Range:
$ $51.54 per hour
