What Would You Do?
Ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for both Palliser Canadian and US employees.

This position will also be responsible for answering queries and supporting the payroll team to ensure the objectives of the payroll department are met.


Additional duties will include:

  • Enter new hires, terminations and Leave of Absences (LOA)
  • Work with the benefits team to ensure benefits are correctly entered and proper deductions are taken
  • Receive and process change forms including rate increases, tax information, direct deposits and employee deductions
  • Produce Records of Employment for all terminated employees and those going on leave
  • Ensure the accuracy and run the biweekly payroll for assigned divisions
  • Enter timesheets and verify hours with management as necessary
  • Generate and reconcile biweekly and monthly insurance payments and government remittances
  • Assists with year end
  • T4's and W2's
  • Process special payments which include bonuses, pension plan, years of service awards, retirements and any other special payments as required
  • Ensure compliance with government payroll legislation
  • Research new payroll regulations and implement changes as necessary to the payroll process
  • Provide agencies with information relating to current and exemployees when required
  • Respond to queries from employees, HR, Accounting, Managers and Executive
  • Prepare and provide reporting to various departments including vacation, sick time and after payroll reporting
  • Provide information to the auditors as requested
  • Identify and develop efficiencies to processes in payroll
  • Train and provide coverage for other payroll areas
  • Miscellaneous payroll responsibilities as required

What Do You Bring?

  • Diploma in Payroll Administration or Accounting or other Accounting/Payroll education
  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) Certification or in process of obtaining
  • Minimum 24 years' payroll experience, processing payroll for a large company (250+ employees) an asset
  • Experience using computerized payroll software, knowledge of Dayforce or Ceridian an asset
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll laws, rules, regulations, audit and internal control guidelines
  • Knowledge of US payroll laws, rules & regulations a strong asset
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment a strong asset
  • Proficient with Office 365 including Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to prepare, review and maintain all payroll functions
  • Strong personal skills including decisionmaking, time management, planning, initiative, and delegation
  • Strong communication skills including oral & written
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability
  • Analytical thinker and attention to detail
  • Strong customer service orientation
