Reporting to the Director, Accounting & Reporting Services, the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager contributes to the overall success of Coast Hotels by playing a critical role in all aspects of financial planning, operational reporting, ad hoc financial and business analysis, project management and financial modelling.

This hands-on leadership position is responsible for all aspects of the annual financial planning and budgeting process and for the preparation and provision of timely reporting and forecasting.

The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager leads corporate initiated projects in finance, and will take on specific tasks, assignments, or projects as required.


Responsibilities:

  • Liaises with finance team and hotel management to develop budgets and forecasts which are aligned to strategic/business objectives.
  • Manages and prepares the consolidation and reporting of the entire organization during the annual budgeting process.
  • Reviews and develops procedures and tools to continually improve budgeting, financial projections, and operating forecast.
  • Identifies and researches variances to forecast, budget, and prioryear expenses, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Manages the accurate and timely financial reporting process including the preparation of all reports required by the parent company.
  • Leads the enhancement of systems and databases for all related functions and provide training for new and existing Ambassadors.
  • Communicates and monitors company policies and practices, clear objectives, targets, and operational quality standards for the centralized accounting department.
  • Collaborates with Technology team to develop and maintain a strong data strategy that supports future needs for information gathering.
  • Implements business intelligence tool and dashboard reports.
  • Provides management team and the heads of department with datadriven analysis as required.
  • Other duties as requested.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum of five years of progressive work experience in finance or accounting or a related area


 Professional designation
  • CPA or equivalent or working towards is an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
  • Considerable knowledge of financial, accounting and reporting systems, processes, and controls.
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP systems is a must.
  • Proficiency with report writer and database query software is an asset.
  • Superior attention to detail, capacity to learn and accept additional responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects across an organization.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Exemplifies Coast's core values and enjoys working in a culture of accountability
  • Have prior experience in a similar role.
  • Have sharp technical skills, a strong discipline of organization, and attention to details with high degree of accuracy.
  • Have good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Have initiative to isolate and solve problems.
  • Be a team player, able to communicate effectively and build tactful relationship with other departments within the organization.
  • Be a selfstarter, flexible, with the ability to multitask and work independently with mínimal supervision.
