Our product development and sourcing team are always thinking about the customer and how to bring the best innovative products to market, where and how to source the best products from around the globe.
Our Canadian team leads our private label business, we manage the brands, product development, quality of our products and the customer experience with our products.
We have close to 300 associates in various sourcing teams around the world. We partner together with our US team and share best practices. Collectively, we're proud to support the merchandising team in Canada with some of the best brands in our stores.Come play a key role in identifying the next big product opportunities for the Pro and DIY and work with a solid group of leaders in the retail market in Canada.
Job Summary:
- Assess a category's performance, evaluate line structure, and understand brand guard rails.
- Participate in team weekly meetings, store walks, vendor meetings and merchant meetings to get a true understanding of the team's role.
- Learn about merchandising at The Home Depot Canada our strategy, our competitors, our process and most importantly our passion for product.
- Responsible for assessing 1 customer category and 1 pro category to make private brand product recommendations.
- Own the project endtoend:
- Analysis: customer & competitive insights; US comparison; category analysis
- Exploration: identify product and brand white space opportunities, as well as diversification opportunities
- Recommendation: prioritization & product recommendation
- At the end of the internship, you will have the opportunity to make product recommendations in 2 categories through a presentation to sourcing leadership team.
What You Bring to the Role:
- Currently pursuing a university and/or college education in retail management, or a related field of study will be considered a preferred qualification.

- Excel based experience a must
The successful student will be currently enrolled in a Canadian accredited university or college throughout the period of the Internship/Co-op Program.
In addition, you must be legally entitled to work in Canada by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid work permit.
