Alberta Health Services is seeking an experienced professional in Edmonton or Calgary who is passionate about driving success and reaching objectives by sharing their expertise in internal auditing in the role of Manager, Internal Audit.

It is an exciting time to be a part of our Internal Audit & Enterprise Risk Management team as we strive to achieve our fundamental goal to provide independent, objective assurance and advisory services to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of AHS' governance, risk management, financial and management controls, and operations.

As the Manager, Internal Audit, you will report to the Director, Internal Audit and lead a diverse range of challenging assurance, advisory and investigative projects.

You will focus on providing management with recommendations and advice on areas included in our risk-based Internal Audit Plan.

Your effective communication skills, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing quality services will build and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders and leaders.

Your strong people management and teambuilding skills will support a healthy team environment. This role will ensure the department can meet stakeholder needs through effective training of the team.

You will provide ongoing support and mentoring to project teams as they identify opportunities to address complex organizational risks and make valuable recommendations for improvement.

Description:

Leading the development of short and long-term Audit Plans and Terms of Reference for specific audit and investigative projects. Responsible for the leadership of significantly complex, sensitive, or province-wide audit projects and investigations. Performing risk assessments at the enterprise, business unit, and project-specific levels. Conducts audits of programs and processes with a focus on governance, risk management, internal controls, and operations.

Drafting Audit reports for Senior Management and the Official Administrator Advisory Committee that identify control weaknesses and offer recommendations to mitigate risks.


Provides project leadership and coaching to professional staff:
senior and junior internal auditors. Collaborates with internal and external auditors to improve the effectiveness of audit activities.

Required Qualifications:

An undergraduate degree, in business or accounting. CPA accounting designation in good standing. A minimum of five years of experience in Internal Audit.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

Internal audit designation such as CIA or CISA. Experience in audit project management in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Demonstrate decision-making, coaching and mentoring, building confidence, and inspiring others. Experience conducting IT audits and investigations of financial irregularities. Strong knowledge of sampling and designing audit programs. Experience managing change and providing innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.
