What You Will Do

  • As a critical member of the provincial operations team, the Head of Conservation Programs (HCP) is a member of the Saskatchewan Provincial Management Team (PMT) and will lead the implementation of securement programs with a focus on achieving habitat conservation goals in Saskatchewan.
In collaboration with other Saskatchewan Provincial Management Team members, the HCP will also:

  • Supervise, coach and administer performance management process for 15 staff.
  • Lead hiring and termination process for direct reports.
  • Support fundraising proposals and be key contact for government funding grants.
  • Participate in strategic and multiyear planning and budgeting processes.
  • Accountable for a program budget/approval with a signing authority up to 100k and working closely with finance staff to track program expense and prepare quarterly projections.
  • Oversee project tracking and progress reports as well as ensuring all projects meet internal approval requirements prior to advancing for approval.
  • Provide support as needed to other provincial and national business areas such as Communications, Conservation Pro, Industry & Government Relations, Science and Sustainability programs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of directly related experience including conservation, renewable resource management, and working with various stakeholders.
  • A postsecondary degree or diploma in wildlife management, biology, ecology or related discipline with a strong conservation focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and crossfunctionally.
  • Excellent internal/external customer service with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Ability to cultivate and foster relationships.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and adaptable to change.
