Course: EI 8003 Sustainable Entrepreneurship

Semester/Term: Winter 2025

Hours/Section: 3 hours/week/ section

Estimated Number of Students: up to 60 students

a) A part-time hourly appointment / one semester is for less than 9 hours in any one semester.

Qualifications

Calendar Description

Introduce the closed-loop economy and the cradle-to-cradle framework of eco-effectiveness. Introduce the unifying governance corporate structure of the Benefit Corporation (B-Corp). Introduce within a unified framework of a sustainable enterprise, the basic tools of new "business" development, e.g. market research, stakeholder analysis, business model, etc. to formulate a concept initiation proposal and solution development plan.

Qualifications

Evidence may be requested for all categories.

Education

Applicants must possess:
A Doctorate degree in engineering, science or business with a minimum of 3 years in the field of Innovation and Entrepreneurship
OR
A masters degree in engineering, or science and master of business administration with a minimum of 3 years in the field of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Experience

Applicants must have a thorough working knowledge of the process of evaluating and identifying new business opportunities. Practical experience of the application in industry or research is preferred.

Currency

Applicants must demonstrate evidence of having maintained up-to-date knowledge and/or academic currency in assessing new venture opportunities.

Teaching Skills

Applicants must demonstrate ability to teach effectively within a lecture format. Applicant must have ability to guide students and provide counsel as required in order to meet educational/pedagogical goals. Minimum of three years post-secondary teaching experience. Demonstrated ability to teach effectively.

Interactive skills

Applicants must have demonstrate ability to interact effectively with colleagues and students; ability to work effectively in groups; ability to resolve conflicts constructively; ability to carry out the duties and obligations of a Contract Lecturer in a respectful manner; ability to empathize with others and consider varied perspectives; commitment to on-going self-assessment.
