Position: Lifeguard/Swim Instructor

Location: Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, Chilliwack, BC

Terms: Permanent, Part-Time

Hours: 4-24 hours per week

Shifts: Vary, including weekday mornings, evenings, and weekends

Salary: Lifeguard $20.65 per hour, Lifeguard/Swim Instructor $22.93 per hour

Start Date: Immediate

Reporting To: Supervisor, Aquatics

Nature & Scope: The Lifeguard/Swim Instructor will work with the Aquatics Supervisor and the YMCA team to create a safe and enjoyable aquatics environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct swimming lessons and lifeguard duties professionally
  • Create lesson plans, evaluate participants, and maintain pool safety
  • Interact positively with YMCA members, visitors, and colleagues daily
  • Perform pool maintenance and administrative tasks
  • Uphold YMCA standards and promote fundraising campaigns
  • Assist in staff training and remain flexible in your role

Requirements:

  • Valid First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguard certifications
  • YSI Certification and prior lifeguard/swimming instruction experience
  • Customer service skills and ability to provide professional references
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Advanced leadership training is a plus
  • Clear criminal record check within the last six months
