The Great Lakes Pilotage Authority (GLPA) is a federal Crown corporation established, pursuant to the _Pilotage Act_, in order to provide safe, efficient, reliable and comprehensive marine pilotage and related services in its region of responsibility, pursuant to the _Pilotage Act_.

**Position Summary**:
Under general supervision of the Dispatch Supervisor, provides continuity to the dispatching operation, assigns pilots from Pilotage Rosters (Tour-de-rôles) to ships requiring their services and maintains assignments lists, traffic sheets, log for unusual events and other records. The Relief Dispatcher maintains and co-ordinates information relating to the movement of ships and pilots and performs other related duties. These duties are to be performed at any time, in the absence of the regular scheduled dispatcher (for any reason) and to otherwise provide assistance to the Supervisor in the production of statistics and other tasks.

**Conditions of Employment**:
$33.56/hr

Scheduled for 24 hours per week minimum

9 months per year

12-hour shift work; days, nights, weekends

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Assigns pilots to all ships requiring pilotage services in respective regions using the dispatch system;
- Maintains assignments lists, traffic sheets, log for unusual events and other records;
- Maintains and co-ordinates information relating to the movement of ships and pilots;
- Reviews the pilots' source forms and update the dispatching system;
- Maintains up to date the pilot rotation list;
- Coordinates transportation for pilots;
- Coordinates pilot transfer services; and
- Undertakes other assigned duties.

**Qualifications**:

- possess a high school diploma;
- possess oral and written communication skills in both French and English;
- have the ability to work under pressure and manage priorities;
- possess analytical and problem-solving skills; and
- possess proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, and Word.

**Preferred**:

- Knowledge of Great Lakes Pilotage Management System
- Have dispatching experience
- A post-secondary diploma

**Résumé du poste**

Sous la supervision générale du superviseur de la répartition, le répartiteur de relève assure la continuité des activités de répartition; à partir du tour de rôle, il affecte des pilotes aux navires qui présentent des demandes de services de pilotage; il tient à jour les listes d'affectations, les feuilles de trafic, le registre des événements inhabituels et d'autres dossiers. Il garde et coordonne l'information relative au mouvement des navires et des pilotes et exécute d'autres tâches connexes. Ces tâches doivent être exécutées à tout moment, en l'absence du répartiteur régulier (pour quelque raison que ce soit) et pour fournir autrement une assistance au superviseur dans la production de statistiques et d'autres tâches.

Neuf mois par année

Travail par quarts de 12 heures; jours, nuits, fins de semaine

**Principales responsabilités**
- À l'aide du système de répartition, affecter des pilotes aux navires nécessitant des services de pilotage dans les régions respectives;
- Tenir à jour les listes d'affectations, les feuilles de trafic, le journal des événements inhabituels et d'autres dossiers;
- Tenir à jour et coordonner l'information relative au mouvement des navires et des pilotes;
- Examiner les fiches de suivi des pilotes et mettre à jour le système de répartition;
- Tenir à jour la liste de rotation des pilotes;
- Coordonner le transport des pilotes;
- Coordonner les services de transfert de pilotes;
- Assumer d'autres tâches qui lui sont assignées.

**Qualifications requises**
- Posséder un diplôme d'études secondaires;
- Posséder des aptitudes en communication orale et écrite en français et en anglais;
- Avoir la capacité de travailler sous pression et de gérer les priorités;
- Posséder des compétences analytiques et de résolution de problèmes;
- Connaître Microsoft Office Suite, notamment Excel
