Role Responsibilities:


Are you passionate about agriculture, environmental sustainability, and shaping the future of agri-environmental policies? We are seeking an Agri-Environmental Policy Analyst with a keen focus on industry and corporate initiatives within Alberta's agriculture sector.

This unique position aims to bridge the gap between government policies and the environmental priorities of leading agricultural corporations and organizations.

As an Agri-Environmental Policy Analyst focusing on industry, your primary role is to analyze, develop, and advise on policies that are related to the environmental strategies of agricultural corporations and organizations.

This position is dedicated to understanding the environmental policies prioritized by the agricultural industry's giants, such as commodity organizations, input corporations, and equipment manufacturers.


You will be responsible for:

Strategic Policy Development: You will take a central role in developing strategic initiatives and policy options related to agri-environmental and climate change matters by providing an industry perspective.

Stakeholder Engagement: You will engage with provincial, national, and corporate stakeholders to understand how government policies align with industry priorities on key agri-environmental files.

Program Support and Evaluation: You will support the planning, development, and evaluation of grant programs focusing on resource management, environmental sustainability, and climate change, ensuring they resonate with industry needs.

Performance Measurement:You will play an integral role in setting and evaluating performance metrics for agri-environmental initiatives, emphasizing alignment with industry standards and expectations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Recruitment Standard:

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Agriculture, Public Policy/Administration, or a related field.-
At least four years of relevant experience, with a strong background in agri-environmental issues, policies, strategies, and industry initiatives.

  • Equivalencies will be considered_

Assets:

  • Experience with private sector agrienvironmental initiatives
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and collaborate with a diverse network of contacts
  • Experience writing options/recommendations documents for senior leadership
  • Experience developing strategies, knowledge of strategic business planning
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Experience with program evaluation and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of biodiversity, SAR, conservation and carbon offsets
  • Exceptional communication, teamwork, and networking abilities, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
