Canada Summer Job Program
This role is a part of the Canada Summer Jobs initiative to support youth in obtaining quality temporary work experiences.
Participants of Canada Summer Job roles
must meet the following requirements:
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Must be able to work all 8 weeks consecutively
Hourly Rate:
$16.50
We are currently seeking one full-time contract Finance Assistant. As a Finance Assistant, you will perform finance-related administrative duties and support the program with duties as outlined below. You'll perform a variety of important tasks that make each day new and exciting, and you'll belong to a team that supports and respects each other as we work together to make a difference within our organization.
CMHA Peel Dufferin has adapted to a hybrid working model including a mix of on-site and remote work. Staff are required to have onsite presence 2-3 times, or more if needed, to meet client and/or program needs.
What you will do
- Support the Finance Department as required
- Utilize Excel to provide solid information for expenses analysis and future budgeting
- Maintain Accounts Department Records
- Review and check internal expenses and external invoices to ensure that they are accurate for audit checking
- Develop a folder system to improve new vendor information
- Complete and record an agencywide inventory of assets such as computers, cell phones, etc.
- Implement measures for asset security
- Improve quality of existing services to our community
- Other administrative tasks and duties as assigned
What you need to join our team
- Currently enrolled in or a graduate of a postsecondary program in Business, Finance or Accounting
- Previous administrative experience, with Finance databases is an asset
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills both in person and over the phone
- Ability to work independently in a multitask environment and to prioritize tasks in a manner that meets staff needs and program objectives
- Proof of administered fullseries Health Canada approved COVID19 vaccination prior to start date. If unable to be vaccinated for reasons relating to protected grounds under the Code, completed medical or religious exemption must be provided.
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report
- Comfortable lifting and carrying objects up to 10lbs and sitting for long periods
