THE OPPORTUNITY


The role will have a variety of responsibilities and competing priorities requiring the Manager, Corporate Reporting to have excellent organization and people management skills with a passion for reporting and analysis.

The role will have multiple opportunities to drive change and become an integral part of how we can make meaningful gains in efficiency, automation and process improvement.


KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Manager will have a significant mandate requiring the skills of a proven leader to:

  • Lead a team that is responsible for the financial accounting and monthly reporting of Venterra's corporate entities
  • Lead the yearend process for the company, including audit of the annual financial statements by working with our external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors
  • Responsible for overseeing the Month-End/Year-End close and consolidation of multiple legal entities within a multicurrency environment
  • Report on financial performance through, the definition and maintenance of, key business metrics
  • Work closely with the Operations, Capex, Property Accounting, Acquisitions/Underwriting, and Technology departments to understand business drivers and provide meaningful insight
  • Create and maintain a strong internal controls environment
  • Lead, challenge and coach a highly engaged team of 12 direct reports
  • Contribute and oversee process reengineering and automation of accounting tasks by streamlining accounting processes and utilizing tools such as Excel, SQL, VBA and learning and implementing new technologies
  • Foster an environment and culture that encourages productivity, innovation, process improvement, teamwork, and a high level of professionalism
  • Other adhoc duties as required

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • CPA or other financial designation required with 5 to 7 years of progressive experience possessing a diverse range of skills including accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit
  • Previous experience working with Oracle or other ERP systems is an asset
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel required with experience in VBA and SQL considered a strong asset
  • Ability to partner with stakeholders at multiple levels and across departments
  • Selfstarter with a natural curiosity to learn the business and enhance our control environment
  • Ability to communicate financial information and key messages in a clear and compelling way
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage work under tight timelines and changing priorities
  • Aptitude to leverage technology to gain efficiencies and improve processes
  • Team first mentality and strong attention to detail to deliver reporting at a high standard
  • Experience in real estate or asset management is preferred but not required
