The Compliance Monitoring and Inspections branch is the enforcement unit of the Department, providing compliance monitoring, inspection, enforcement and community client support services for natural resource development activities in the territory.

This position is responsible for coordinating the development and analysis of new or revised policies, regulations and legislation, provides advice on operational policies, represents the branch on various intergovernmental and public forums including public consultations and interdepartmental/intergovernmental negotiations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Communications, Law, Natural Resources or a related field;
  • Experience in a policy role, undertaking tasks such as researching, analyzing and writing reports
  • Experience in writing various types of documents, including coordinating and communicating departmental messages/technical information to a variety of audiences
  • Experience in participating in and contributing to inter-agency teams/working groups/projects

Candidates with an equivalent combination of post-secondary coursework along with experience in the above will be equally considered.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability:
We are looking for a strategic individual with critical thinking skills who can analyze a broad variety of policy projects and make reasoned recommendations. The ideal candidate should have, and may be assessed on their:

  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Analytical and research skills
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to make recommendations on complex issues, draft decision making documents and develop policy
