Duties:

The Indigenous/Xwulmuxw Studies Department is seeking a candidate to teach in the academic year.

The position is part-time, comprised of five courses over the Fall and Spring semesters.

In the Fall, the successful candidate will teach a six-credit section of INDG 101 (Exploring Indigenous Identities), offered as a blended synchronous course at the Cowichan Campus in Duncan. In the Spring, the successful candidate will teach a six-credit section of INDG 102 (Exploring Indigenous communities) at the Nanaimo Campus, in person, and INDG 380 (Special Topics in Indigenous/Xwulmuxw Studies), offered as an online asynchronous delivery, the specific topic to be determined in consultation with the department.

The successful candidate is expected to participate in departmental meetings and planning.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.

Required Qualifications:

A Master's degree in Indigenous Studies or a related discipline from an accredited institution. Demonstrated proficiency with technology relevant to the position. Demonstrated commitment to working with Indigenous communities.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD degree in Indigenous Studies or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
