Controller, Investment Management


Based in Vancouver, the Controller, Investment Management will report directly to the Vice President, Finance Investment Management and be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting for a real estate fund holding over $16 billion in Canadian real estate assets held for the purposes of supporting BC public sector pension investment requirements.

Responsibilities include managing the finance function over the operating and investment requirements of the fund, the preparation of financial statements and MD&A reports, preparation of budgets and forecasts, and the preparation of management reporting.


As a Controller,
Investment Management
You Will**:

  • Supervise the portfolio finance staff in producing accurate consolidated financial results for both historic and budget reporting.
  • Manage the consolidation and reporting of third party property managed accounting, forecasting and quarterly reporting.
  • Lead and coordinate the accounting activities related to acquisitions and dispositions of investment properties, in various corporate ownership structures.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal property and development finance teams across different regions as well as with QuadReal's treasury, tax, legal, corporate, and FP&A functions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of annual tasks such as property budgets, cash flow forecasting, annual IFRS financial statements and audit process.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly tasks such as accounting month ends, tax filings, cash flows, and monthly reporting for various portfolio legal entities.
  • Ensure accounting information is reliable and available to support the reporting on returns and other portfolio KPIs.
  • Provide accounting analysis and solutions to complex accounting issues as needed.
  • Manage performance and ensure that portfolio finance team develop the skills required to fulfill their responsibilities.
  • Develop technical, analytical, and communication skills of the finance team through review, focused feedback and training.
  • Handle transformative projects as assigned

Your Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • CPA designation or equivalent
  • At least 810 years of experience in financial reporting, with a focus on real estate an asset
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fastpaced environment
  • Working knowledge of Power BI will be an asset
