  • Provide academic and career counseling including career and aptitude assessments where appropriate.
  • Liaise with and provide referrals to appropriate agencies, institutions, and/or employers.
  • Identify issues to engage students in activities designed to strengthen ties to work and career development.
  • Where appropriate, develop working relationships with appropriate external partners and employers, supporting students in career development and work experience.
  • Maintain records of client-related information, and report such information as required.
  • Prepare group workshops and/or presentations where appropriate.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with employer and educational requirements.
  • Work cooperatively in an interdependent team environment.
  • Contribute to an environment that values the beliefs, needs, and contributions of a culturally diverse community.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

  • 1. Master's Degree which includes a supervised graduate Counselling practicum. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for current faculty in educational counsellor roles.
  • Two years' recent, relevant experience counselling in an educational or mental health setting.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills in complex and emotionally charged situations.
  • Ability to work as a member of multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of students.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous social, economic and cultural challenges in Saskatchewan and the relationship of these challenges to the support of Indigenous students.
  • Be knowledgeable about intercultural and socioeconomic barriers to student success.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize psychometric instruments in a counselling setting.
  • Demonstrates valuing diversity.**Desired QSA
