Job Description_

Summary:
Responsible for end-to-end production of computer-aided designs related to outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) telecommunications projects.

The CAD Technician role requires a highly motivated self-starter who possesses the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a large cross-functional team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize AutoCAD to effectively draft and design OSP and ISP permit, construction, and asbuilt drawings as per customer requirements and relevant local and regulatory standards
  • Interpret field survey details, existing utility information, high level designs, and scope of work statements
  • Analyze and determine the most optimal design solution to meet the project objective
  • Prepare detail drawings where required of multidwelling unit (MDU) schematics, typical trench details, cross sections, and project specific materials
  • Perform quality control and make necessary drawing updates as required
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with Project Team on items related to scope, schedule, budget, and quality
  • Complete assigned projects on time and on budget
  • Other duties are required

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Postsecondary diploma in Electrical, Civil, Architectural Technology, another relevant field, or equivalent work experience
  • Advance knowledge, skills and working experience with Autodesk AutoCAD is required
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency
  • Knowledge of CSA standards, including but not limited to CSA 2
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work and collaborate in a team environment
  • Ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment
  • Highly motivated selfstarter with an attention to detail is a must
