About the Role:

The General Manager position at H&K Canada's Ottawa market entails leading a team of high-caliber professionals specializing in public affairs, communications & advisory, and public engagement. This role offers a thrilling chance to play a key role within a prominent global organization. Reporting to the CEO of Canada and as a member of the Canadian leadership team, the General Manager will drive growth by overseeing a talented team, developing business strategies, and executing marketing plans for Ottawa.

This critical leadership role seeks a self-motivated professional with agency experience, a strong political acumen, and a drive for career advancement. The ideal candidate will possess established networks within local government, political, and business circles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Innovative and Cultural Leadership: Foster a collaborative, diverse, and forward-thinking environment that delivers exceptional work. Act as a brand ambassador for H&K, championing its values and people, and inspire a culture of excellence and client success.
  • Talent Management: Play a crucial role in recruiting and nurturing top talent, offering growth opportunities and a supportive environment to boost employee retention.
  • Commercial Leadership and Growth: Drive new business development, leveraging industry expertise and a strong network to keep H&K at the forefront of innovation.
  • Client Relationships: Provide strategic guidance to clients at a senior level, focusing on client satisfaction and business growth.

Critical Experience:

  • Several years of experience in public affairs and strategic communications leadership roles.
  • Deep expertise in public affairs, government relations, strategic communications, public relations, and public participation.
  • Strong financial acumen with a track record of maintaining growth and profitability.
  • Extensive leadership experience in managing diverse teams and fostering growth opportunities.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex relationships and changing landscapes.
  • Political savvy with experience in government stakeholder engagement.
  • Exceptional network across government, business, and community stakeholders.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is highly desirable.
