How You'll Perform the Role

As an active member of the engineering-maintenance team, you will be responsible for managing internal and external resources and systems to ensure the availability of plant equipment to ensure optimal operation. You will also be responsible for constantly improving the reliability of equipment according to high safety standards in accordance with the company's objectives. Responsible for the integrity of documentation so that all items are in compliance with SQF principles and the food safety management system.

• Plans and organizes the work of his team as well as follow-ups.

• Actively participates in Gemba tours and takes corrective measures.

• Maintain a safe work environment and behaviors according to company standards.

• Respond to urgent requests regarding equipment breakdown slowing down operations
daily operations of the plant while ensuring healthy relationships and sustained collaboration with all staff, unionized and non-unionized, connected to operations;

• Establish priorities for maintenance as well as for the efficient use of available resources;

• Implements and improves, if necessary, the current preventive maintenance program; develops the necessary procedures relating thereto.

• Maintain machines, tools and equipment in good working order;

• Responsible for maintaining the building in good condition;

• Participates in establishing healthy and profitable relationships with our current and future suppliers;

• Member of the OHS committee;

• Identifies failures and recommends improvements;

• Implementation and maintenance of maintenance software at the factory level

• Responsible for automation diagnostics and intervention

• Presentation and management of capital projects

• Responsible for emergency measures

• Responsible for rolling equipment

• Responsible for interior and exterior building

• Supervises the technical buyer and maintenance supervisor

• Identifies value-added projects, development plans, schedules and costs. Manages the planning, execution, budget control, schedule and risks of assigned projects.

• Management of external contractors and ensures compliance with safety and hygiene requirements.

• Improved equipment reliability by working in collaboration with the maintenance team to ensure that machine availability objectives are achieved in conjunction with the production team.

• Liaises between manufacturing and technical service in implementing technology and process changes that support product development and/or meet internal or customer requirements.

• Proactively communicates and keeps senior managers informed of work progress, results and process performance.

• Collaborates on "Lean" activities to improve product quality and operating processes. Learns and helps deploy "Lean Manufacturing" tools.

• Understanding of Deluxe manufacturing processes or other similar processes.

• The employee must follow security policies and requirements. He must also follow and respect all policies/standards: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety (SQF) and all other DeLuxe/Novolex regulations.

• The employee is responsible for maintaining the integrity of production records and documentation and all elements necessary to comply with the HACCP program and the Food Safety Management System (FSMS)

• The employee is responsible for ensuring that his or her job description is in compliance with Product Safety/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Product Protection procedures and policies.

• All other related tasks

The holder of this position is designated as backup to the Supervisor - Maintenance position and should therefore carry out the tasks and functions described in his job description.

What We Need From You


• Experience in staff supervision

• Ability to work in a constantly changing environment

• Recognized knowledge of hydraulic and electronic mechanics

• Comfort with computers and new software

• Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Demonstrate professionalism, organization, monitoring/rigor

• Good sense of initiative; dynamism

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, unifier ability

• Ability to communicate in French and English orally and in writing

• 5 years of relevant experience in an SME in a unionized manufacturing environment or similar

• Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers to understand and resolve issues.

• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the company.

• Project management skills combined with a practical approach that aims to achieve objectives.

• Ability to use structured problem-solving methods that aim to achieve results.

• Experience in value-added manufacturing methods (Lean Manufacturing) is an asset.

• Masters key software programs (Excel, Word, Microsoft Project).
