Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Continuous Improvement and Sustainability Manager has the responsibility of leading the Continuous Improvement and Sustainability team, in planning and executing manufacturing efficiency, energy reduction, environmental improvement projects to meet the financial and environmental commitments of both the Ontario sites.

The CIS Manager will drive manufacturing excellence with targeted projects that are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications while adhering to standard safe practices and procedures, cGMP principles, and legislative requirements.

This position can be located in Windsor, Ontario or Strathroy, Ontario, our two sites located in Canada offering softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries. We have a broad range of integrated formulation, manufacturing, analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.

Shifts: Regular working hours: 8:00 AM-4:30 PM or 8:30 AM-5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch

The Role

  • Lead and deliver key process improvement activities and project management inside the Operational team and across all disciplines including Production, Packaging, Engineering, and HS&E.
  • Work in conjunction with stakeholders to ensure alignment on projects and priorities.
  • Lead/deliver investment capital projects and CAPA implementation including key Engineering NCRs related to systems/processes.
  • Manage the continuous improvement savings programs for the Ontario sites, including the over delivery of savings target.
  • Develop, execute, and monitor project plans with clear progress reports and prepare and execute any supporting documents (URS, IQOQ, PQ, SOPS, PMs, CCFs, etc.).
  • Obtain quotes, monitor, and track in-house resource, vendor, and contractor performance, taking action as needed to ensure the project plan completion date is met.
  • Manage and develop direct reports to create a team capable of delivering on multiple CIS projects and activities across the Ontario sites.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

The Candidate

  • Degree in Engineering, applied science, or related field is required.
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in a relatable technical role, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge of GMP principles is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, TPS, other related areas.
  • The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard.
  • The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, bend, or twist, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • There is also the potential exposure to chemicals that may require the use of PPE.
