We are seeking a PLC Programming Manager who is focused on world-class technology.


The PLC Programming Manager is responsible for defining the strategies and leading the tactical efforts of the PLC Programming Team in support of the vision to establish Valiant TMS as a world-class integration, installation and launch organization in the BIW System Automation Industrial sector.

As the technical leader of the PLC programming team, the Manager will cultivate technical expertise and drive continuous improvement, supply human resources for project execution, enhance staffing capacity and utilization, and ensure work generated by the team is of the highest quality.

What you'll get to do
Cultivate operational excellence across technical, cost, timing and quality functions
Assign PLC programming staffing to projects and maintain high utilization across all projects and locations
Provide technical expertise, establish competency, and benchmark technologies which are state of the art
Improve processes to be more effective and efficient through technology and analytical skills
Establish, document, and maintain best practices (technical libraries) and increase standardization
Serve as cost center lead, forecasting necessary funding and manage to an approved budget
Provide timely response to Valiant TMS hot-line calls that are related to PLC Programming, including responding to or delegating response to calls and coordinating applicable actions
Coach, mentor and appraise workforce, including supporting individual development planning
Collaborate with global Valiant TMS teams to enhance capability and project support
Cultivate and secure external staffing resource relationships to support periods of peak demand
Track and establish KPIs, targets, goals and organizational objectives
Develop and maintain continuous improvement initiatives and processes
Participate in special assignments, such as presentations, technical sales support, accompanying customers on plant tours, training, order follow-up and in-plant equipment review
Perform content review for projects for integration, development and improvement
What you bring
Completed degree/diploma in a Controls, Electrical or Robotics program
5+ years of direct experience in robotics or PLC debugging in a machine-build environment
Demonstrated leadership abilities
Functional understanding of automated production systems
Excellent communication skills
Ability and willingness to travel to company and customer facilities globally
Experience leading both people and projects
