What the job is all about:

  • Responsible for all procurement related activities for an assigned group of commodities and/or vendors.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Vendor Relationship management. Coordinates all activities related to procurement of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies beginning with intent to purchase through delivery, throughout the life of the component/part. Assures that components/parts are delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and that they meet the quality standards of the company. Takes corrective action to maintain the longterm viability of the supply chain.
  • Responsible for evaluating demands from Production Control for the advancement of products through Manufacturing. This occurs when there is a spike in the forecast.
  • Will work with the R&D Lab in the recommendation and selection of suppliers for new products.
  • Analyzes all new requirements for assigned commodities to ensure timely delivery at best possible price. Works closely with R&D department to ensure NPI Requirements are met.
  • Establishes best applicable supply chain practices with vendor base, including Kanban, Demand Pull, and MRP Share techniques.
  • May administer MRP Share and Consignment programs
  • Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements. Will visit these vendors during prototype development to ensure accuracy of product and quality of work.
  • Solicits and evaluates quotations for the requested commodity
  • Negotiates the lowest practical cost for goods balanced against optimum quality and schedule needs. Considers freight and brokerage costs in these calculations.
  • Assist in the negotiation and implementation of longterm Purchase Agreements.
  • Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents.
  • Performs all rescheduling and expediting of relevant purchase orders so as to meet production plan needs while maintaining mínimal inventory
  • Expedites and provides timely information with regards to Shortages
  • Responsible for the procurement of Purchase Requisitions for nonMRP related items and demands for samples from R&D Lab, Test Dept., Manufacturing, Sales etc.
  • Maintains accurate information with regards to Standard Cost, Lead Time and other related part data.
  • Drives the disposition of excess inventory through sale, return, scrap, or other measures as appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor Degree or Community College diploma in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Working towards or has PMAC certification.
  • Advanced skill level with standard office tools (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and other spreadsheet/database programs
  • Demonstrated experience with MRP systems
  • Capable of managing several complex tasks at a time
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work with technical and nontechnical staff
  • Wellorganized, persistent, a "doer", attentive to details and accuracy
  • Excellent planning, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Ability to make decisions based on the company's best interests
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work with several functional areas as well as interact with all levels of management.
  • Preference will be given to those with experience in purchasing printed circuit boards, electronics components and sheet metal/machine parts in an electronics manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the Broadcast industry is an asset
