As the Software Development Center Manager for Leica Geosystems in the US/Canada region, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the operations and strategic direction of our local software development team.

You will be responsible for overall business management, including budgeting, profit and loss (P/L) analysis, and coordinating business development efforts.

Additionally, you will manage the team reporting to the Senior Software Engineer, foster client relationships, streamline processes, and ensure the successful delivery of software products.

Your leadership and management skills will be instrumental in driving the success of our software development initiatives and maximizing value for our customers and stakeholders.


WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

Overall Business Management:
Oversee the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the software development center.

Develop and implement business plans, strategies, and objectives to achieve organizational goals.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess business performance and identify areas for improvement.

Budget & P/L:
Manage the budgeting process and allocate resources effectively to maximize profitability.

Conduct regular profit and loss (P/L) analysis to track financial performance and optimize resource utilization.

Identify opportunities for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiency.

Coordinates Business Development:
Collaborate with sales, marketing, and business development teams to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

Participate in client meetings, presentations, and negotiations to secure new contracts and partnerships.

Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and industry influencers.

Manage Team Member and Client Interaction:
Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the software development team and foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.


Serve as a point of contact for client interactions, ensuring clear communication, alignment with client expectations, and successful project delivery.

Address client inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.

Monthly Product Development Request Review:
Review and prioritize product development requests from internal and external stakeholders.

Evaluate the feasibility, impact, and alignment of requests with organizational objectives and resource availability.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scopes, timelines, and deliverables.

Manage Business Relationship with the Global BU:
Maintain and strengthen business relationships with business units (BU) within the organization.

Collaborate with BU stakeholders to understand their needs, requirements, and strategic objectives.

Align software development efforts with BU goals and initiatives to drive mutual success.

Resource Allocation & Process Streamlining:
Allocate resources effectively to support project priorities and deadlines.

Streamline development processes, methodologies, and workflows to improve efficiency, quality, and delivery speed.

Implement best practices, tools, and technologies to enhance productivity and collaboration within the team.

Product Oversight and Delivery including Product Marketing (myWorld/SAP):
Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from conception and development to launch and post-launch support.

Collaborate with product management and marketing teams to define product strategies, positioning, and go-to-market plans.

Ensure that products meet customer needs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

General Team Leadership:
Provide general leadership and direction to the software development team, promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Mentor and develop team members, fostering their professional growth and career advancement.

Foster a positive and inclusive work environment where team members feel valued, empowered, and motivated to excel.

Hands-On Development Involvement if Required:
Engage in hands-on software development activities as needed to support project requirements, fill skill gaps, or provide technical guidance.

Lead by example and demonstrate technical proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to quality and excellence.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.

Some experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java is an asset

Proven experience in software development, project management, and business leadership roles.

Strong understanding of software development methodologies, processes, and tools.

Excellent financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, stakeholders, and team members.

Strategic thinker with the ability to align business objectives with technical solutions and drive organizational growth and profitability.
