SCHEDULE:
Monday to Friday, between 3:00-11:00 PM - Flexible availability for weekends

COMPENSATION:
$24.87 per hour (Grid 3 as per collective agreement)

REPORTS TO:
Manager of Housing

Join our team at Interior Community Services, where we strive to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our community. As a Janitor, you will be instrumental in ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of our buildings and residences, providing a positive experience for all users.

What to Expect:


  • Clean and Sanitize: Travel to various agency buildings to clean and disinfect different areas using manual and power cleaning equipment.
  • Waste Management: Collect and dispose of refuse, ensuring clean areas and performing spot clean-ups.
  • Exterior Maintenance: Maintain building exteriors through tasks like sweeping, window washing, and snow shoveling.
  • Rental Housing Upkeep: Prepare rental units for move-ins and move-outs.
  • Event Support: Set up furniture for functions and meetings, ensuring cleanliness post-events.
  • Safety and Security: Secure buildings, report maintenance needs, and maintain safety protocols.

Key Requirements:

  • Grade 10 or higher education
  • Minimum of one month of related experience or equivalent combination of education and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence and Safe Driving Record
  • Access to a vehicle is an asset
  • Consent to Criminal Record Check
  • Union membership is mandatory
  • Flexible availability for weekend shifts
  • Training provided free of charge upon selection

Existing certification in WHMIS, Mandt, Privacy and Information Sharing, Anti-Bullying, and Harassment is advantageous.

  • Physical requirements include traveling within the city, lifting up to 60 lbs., and performing various physical tasks.
