The automation technician is responsible for the programming, debugging, installation, and startup of new or modified production and test equipment from the perspective of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls installation.

Responsible for the sustenance of equipment documentation systems from the perspective of obtaining and updating technical reference manuals, instructions, and electrical schematics required to service this equipment long term.

Technical diploma in Automation or Engineering Technology and relevant automotive industry experience.

3+ years experience in hands-on repair and maintenance of Automation, robotics, and CNC machining centers in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Familiarity with Fanuc, A-B, Omron, and Siemens controls and Fanuc and ABB robotics. Knowledge of PLC, CNC, Electrical, and Mechanical Systems required.
Knowledge of IATF16949/ISO9001 standards with respect to APQP, PPAP, and QOS is a definite asset.
Language Skills
Excellent English skills - written and verbal.

12 hour continental shifts:

The automation technician will be involved in maintaining critical equipment on the shop floor and troubleshooting robotics and controls related problems.

They must be technically sound to use a work laptop to read PLC and robot program code. Familiarity with how robotic systems work and low voltage electrical troubleshooting capabilities are required.

Project-based work involves creating program codes for various automation devices, getting devices to communicate with each other through industrial networks, constructing and commissioning robotic work areas, and utilizing mechanical and low voltage electrical knowledge.
