Professor, Instrumentation and Control Technician - Part Time


The Electrical, Transportation & Innovation department of the Mohawk College Marshall School of Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship requires a part-time professor to teach in the instrumentation and control department in any number of courses and program areas.


Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Professors in this department are responsible for providing academic leadership for developing an effective learning environment.


Responsibilities:

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Creating a positive and innovative student-centered learning environment in both the classroom and laboratory settings
  • Using a variety of teaching strategies most appropriate for the curriculum for both postsecondary and apprenticeship.
  • Using a variety of techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
  • Managing the educational environment to facilitate an optimal learning experience and student success.
  • Evaluating, revising and developing learning resources within the program.
  • Enhancing educational delivery and experiences through the use of technology to facilitate student learning.
  • Using the college's eLearning system to present curriculum, testing and online activities.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Certificate of Qualification as an Instrumentation and Control Technician (447A)
  • An Ontario Certificate of Apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Construction & Maintenance Electrician 309A and/or Industrial Electrician 442A preferred not required
  • A minimum of five years experience as a Certified Technician/Electrician.
  • Related teaching experience.
  • Adult education teaching certificate preferred not required.
  • A postsecondary diploma or degree in a related field preferred not required.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively interculturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
  • Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Installation methods (Especially Motor control and Allen-Bradley Rockwell RS logics 5000 PLC).
  • Electronic and Electrical Theory.
  • Instrumentation.
  • Schematics and Prints.
