WHAT WE DO


C'est Tout Bakery & Bistro is a high volume bakery and bistro located in Smiths Falls that boasts long standing regular customers, catering clients, and daily drop in customers from all walks of life.

Our customers love the daily lunch specials, the grab-and-go fare for picnics in the park, Friday Take Out meals, and specialty items like deserts, cakes, and pastries.

We are seeking an experienced prep cook who isn't fazed by a fast-paced, high volume environment.


We want to lean on your superior organization skills and creative talent to set up your production space and flow that lets you get right to it, supporting the creation of dishes our fans line up for each day.


It goes without saying that your attention to quality, consistency, safety, and time management are the business skills that compliment your talents.

If you have trouble getting out of bed in the morning or being self-sufficient and following a production plan and well-established recipes, this is not the role for you.

THE ROLE

  • Follow prep list and recipes created by the chef
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves and in fridges/freezers so they remain organized and easily accessible
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings in accordance with recipes
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat according to specifications provided by the chef
  • Perform basic cooking duties including reducing sauces, parboiling, braising, etc
  • Prepare basic dishes
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

KEY EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES

  • You possess basic knife skills and knowledge of knife cuts
  • You have experience safely operating commercial kitchen equipment
  • Culinary school training or diploma an asset but not required

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Must be available Tuesday through Saturday between the hours of 6AM and 8PM
  • Must possess Safe Food Handling certification (or are willing to get it at your expense)
  • Our long break is over the Christmas holidays, when we close for approximately 2 weeks.
