GENERAL FUNCTION


Reporting to President of EssilorLuxottica North America, the General Manager Canada is responsible for establishing the long-term commercial strategy and develop business relationships with current and future customers across the Canada region.


The General Manager will lead a sizeable commercial team directly and indirectly while establishing joint strategies for growth in partnership with the North America commercial team and customers.

In addition, when strategies are established, you will deploy the necessary resources to achieve sales targets and manage business & team performance.


This is a key strategic and executional position, with the responsibility of working across business lines to ensure EssilorLuxottica maximizes its business results and opportunities, while supporting the industry for growth and evolution.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, direct and evolve a large commercial team and align team to support the growth of the Canada business
  • Lead, drive and grow the commercial P&L for the Canada Professional solutions business
  • Leads the management / qualification of risks and opportunities to drive the Canada business plan
  • Monitors financial results and creates plans to improve profitability and growth
  • Develops and cultivates relationships externally, leading to incremental business;
  • Maintains routine communications with global and North America leadership on various customer activities and initiatives;
  • Leads communication channels systematically with existing and potential customers
  • Leads business review and from it make sure action plans are in place to ensure financial growth
  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders, with a high degree of efficiency and effectiveness, leads product/promotion initiatives, sales effectiveness opportunities and maximizes the customer collaboration
  • Maintains awareness of competitors, expansion opportunities, customers, markets, and new industry developments and standards.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree, Business or related field
  • 20+ years commercial experience including 15 years within the ophthalmic industry.
  • Successful background leading commercial business growth across multifaceted retail industry: from large and small retail chains to independent business owner models
  • Proven knowledge in the field of optometry, refraction and diagnostic equipment;
  • Business acumen, history of business turnaround and growth
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to understand and interpret financial data.
  • Ability to combine strategic vision with everyday tactical detail and a strong urge for action
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, empower others, and exemplify core behavioral values
  • Strong customer driven mindset
  • Strong executive presence with internal and external industry visibility.
  • Strong public speaking background is highly beneficial, working with trade associations, speaking at events

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual English & French
  • MBA or Masters degree
  • Experience in the medical healthcare / medical device industry
  • Knowledgeable and experience in Optical Instruments industry is desirable but not essential
  • Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
