This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate professional who is interested in providing provincial support to innovative, rural-based projects that are strengthening Alberta's capacity to support mentally healthy Albertans in a healthy Alberta.


CMHA's Rural Mental Health Project strives to strengthen community capacity for better mental health in over 150 rural and remote communities through ongoing training, network development, and community grants.

The Rural Mental Health project and network are being built collaboratively with strategic local and provincial partners.

The principles that guide our work include health promotion, community-development, strength-based, using whole-community approaches, while considering the full lifespan development of our communities.


The Role

Reporting to the Rural Mental Health Project Manager, this position is responsible for supporting the success of Animator training coordination, from promotions and onboarding to distributing and tracking related training, funding, and reporting progress of each participating community.

The role is optimized for a team member who is highly organized with great attention to detail, with exceptional fluency in a variety of Microsoft and online software programs that aid in information managements, and who thrives in a collaborative work team.


The Project and Training Coordinator will be responsible for working with rural citizens and local backbone organizations to support funding distribution and management, related administration, and evaluation activities, and maintaining respectful relationships and communication pathways with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

This position holds opportunities for growth, possibly weaving into various project activities based on aptitude and interest.

Responsibilities:

  • Training and Funding Coordination_
  • Promoting of project and training, and ongoing communications with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and host information sessions with community partners, as required.
  • Onboarding community members and organizations, relationship building and providing support, assist with identifying appropriate communitybased organization.
  • Information sharing, data collection, and tracking with interested and participating rural community partners.
  • Coordinating training activities: communications, calendar events, scheduling interviews, providing training instructions and materials, connecting trainees, tracking completion, and arranging posttraining checkins.
  • Arranging funding agreements with communities, including funding distribution, tracking progress, reporting deadlines and amendments, and content analysis.
  • Provide technology support during training and other online events.
  • Maintain and update contact list with 300+ contacts.
  • Develop and revise documentation annually or as needed, related to project and training, aligning with project principles, goals, and activities.
  • Interview communities, capturing community insights and impacts, including article writing and video editing.
  • Organize, gather, and analyse evaluation data that captures members participation and outcomes.
  • Use collected information to ensure growth and improvements to process, administration, facilitation, and evaluation.
  • Act as a point of contact, offer ongoing support to rural communities and other partners to enable their success and connections.
  • Project and Network Support_
  • Collaborate with team members and community partners to build capacity across project activities to mutually reinforce and support community success.
  • Provide event planning support for an annual inperson event, in collaboration with community leaders.
  • Assist in the facilitation of the advisory and adjudication teams and corresponding follow up.
  • Aid project evaluation and reporting, related to training and other learning events.
  • Support maintenance of website updates, and ongoing development and distribution of network communications, developing and adjusting content, as needed.
  • Collaborate with team and other partners to mutually reinforce project outcomes across training, network, and community grants.
