Your Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled, enthusiastic, and innovative Mental Health Therapist (MHT) within the Edmonton Mental Health Youth Diversion Program. The Edmonton Mental Health Youth Diversion Program assists youth, ages 12 to 17 years, who are charged with a low risk, minor offense (or offenses) and have mental health and/or substance use concerns. The team works closely with the youth, their caregivers, justice partners and health and community support to assist in working on personally meaningful goals that build on the youth's strengths while addressing health and social needs.As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment. The successful candidate will have an exceptional ability to engage and work with youth, families, and community partners. Skill with mental health assessment, individual counselling including short term intervention, and case management is a must to be successful in this role. Consultation with the clinical team and supervisors will be important. The successful candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team.

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of two years providing counselling/therapy to adolescent clients. Certification in CPR/First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Suicide prevention all required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in partnership with community stakeholders in a professional capacity preferred.
